Here is more detail on the email streams you are signing up for:

The Raft:

A monthly email assembled by the International Plum Village Community to offer Dharma talks, guided meditations, and more to inspire, inform, and support you in the practice of mindfulness.

What does it mean?

The Buddha compared his teachings to a raft that helps us cross over to the other shore— the shore of peace, freedom, and well-being. Similarly, The Raft is a body of teachings and practices to uplift us.

“We should use the teaching like a raft to bring us across the river. And then when we've crossed the river, we can leave the raft there for someone else to use.”

As Thich Nhat Hanh has taught, once we have benefitted from the raft of the Dharma, we should make it available to others. If you’ve enjoyed The Raft series, please share it with your fellow Sangha members, friends, and loved ones.

FAQs

  • We did not intend to lose you, dear friend! We recently overhauled our database and email system to streamline it, and in the process some contacts may not have made it into the new system. We invite you to please sign up again using the form at the top of this page.

  • During the migration to our new email system, some of our contacts from one list may have ended up on a different list. We ask for your patience and understanding. You are welcome to update your preferences using the link at the bottom of every email we send.

  • We have good news! It is easy to update your preferences and select only the types of emails you want to receive. Go to one of the emails we recently sent, and at the bottom you will find a link to “update preferences.” If you click on that, it will ask you to confirm this is what you want to do and send another link to your inbox. (This is a safety feature in case you have forwarded an email to someone else, so they cannot change your preferences without your knowledge!) That will bring up a page with checkboxes where you can select or deselect any of the options, or unsubscribe from all.

  • We manage hundreds of thousands of subscribers from all over the world. This information helps us comply with international laws, ensure subscribers only receive information they requested, and inform them when new communication products and relevant events become available.

  • We take your privacy seriously and want to get your permission, and accurate contact information, before sending you additional information (like our Annual Highlights reports, updates on our building projects, and more) by email or postal delivery. By providing a primary and secondary language, you can help us as we explore ways to provide information in languages other than English. This is entirely voluntary, of course!

  • We are committed to respecting the privacy of our subscribers and only use your information only for the purposes spelled out in our privacy policy.

  • It is our aspiration to someday provide more materials in languages other than English. At the present moment, most of our communications are in English and there is one e-newsletter in French. We will update this page as more materials are developed.
